Diabetes Blood Sugar Levels ?C What Is a Normal Blood Sugar Range?Diabetes is a chronic condition where the body has too much glucose (sugar) in the blood. In the case of type one diabetes this is due to the pancreas failing to produce insulin due to damage which causes higher levels of blood sugar as insulin is the hormone that the body uses to convert glucose into ATP, or andenosine triphosphate, the ??energy currency?? of life. This is normally due to damage caused by the patient??s own immune system and tends to occur early in life. In the case of type two diabetes meanwhile which can occur at any age, this is often due to the body becoming insensitive to insulin so that it can??t use it. At first this causes the body to create more insulin which can make up for the problem, however over time it will no longer be enough. The additional glucose in the body will then cause various other problems including heart and circulatory system difficulties, damage to the eyes, and nerve damage (neuropathy) which can have all kinds of negative effects.
