One common problem faced by these patients is complications in the feet.Diabetic Neuropathy, which is the damage of nerves in the feet due to increased blood sugar levels in the body results in decrease in the sensitivity of the feet. Diabetic Vasculopathy is another common problem of the feet experienced by the patients where the blood vessels hardens and becomes narrowed resulting in poor circulation of blood to the feet. These cause other common inconveniences, some of which include numbness, abrasions, slow healing of wounds and increased risk of getting foot ulcers. The patients also typically experience tingling sensation, dampness and coldness in the feet due to poor blood circulation, blister formation, swelling, redness, calluses, corns or bunions. Fungal infections due to insufficient blood supply to the fatty tissues surrounding the toes and foot are quite commonly observed. Hence, diabetic patients should take extra care of their feet and give proper comfort.
