Check engine light and battery light out of nowhere! Car looses power and bogs out

Please don’t disconnect the battery with the engine running. If the alternator has bad diodes it will produce massive spikes (I measured 60 volt spikes with an oscilloscope on my old no-electronics Volvo). That was a test from the 1950s when generators were used and there was nothing to spike anyway. Today it is a car-killer.

May as well find out what the check engine light is about. The first source only has the procedure for the 1994-1995 Del Sol, but I bet it is the same for the 1993. Where it talks about a Code Reader it is just a shorting tool – most people use paper clips.

it may be the alternator have it checked out at auto zone for free.

2003 Honda accord ex break light?

5 April, 2012 (06:00) | Education | By: admin

I changed the drivers side rear caliper and bleed the break system on my car after I did the reservoir went down to the low mark and the break light came on I filled it back up and bleed all the breaks to make sure all air came out but the light will still not go out. I disconnected the sensor on the reservoir and the light goes out is there anything short of replacing the master cylinder to fix this?

I think it is just a float switch – you can try rapping on the side of the reservoir with a screwdriver handle to free it up.

2003 honda accord will not start had no oil need help :(?

5 April, 2012 (05:45) | Education | By: admin

i have about 150,000 miles on it and its been run with little to no oil in it a couple times.battery is fine gas and fuel pumps are fine its just when i try to turn it on, it makes a weird sound.doesnt even turn over at all its almost like a constant humming sound. what could it be. it must be something internally with then engine because of the lack of oil in it but is there any way at all to trouble shoot the and narrow down what could be the problem? if you need any information at all just ask all i want to know is how i can fix my baby :(

Your engine quite possibly welded itself together due to a lack of oil.

Nice job!

Oh deer naughty naughty! I have a 2002 accord sport. Sounds like you have bust your piston rings, probably hurt your pistons and cylinders too. Theres no way of knowing for sure tilk you get the head off. fuel is the food but oil is the blood. Youhave to check it every week with older cars like ours incase of leaks etc

engine seized but if you have a set of sockets take the wheel of and try turning the engine over at the crank with socket and long bar if its slightly tough then not too bad but if totally not willing to move new engine required. think it is a 19mm or 21mm socket cant remember

Sounds like you’ve seized the engine. The "humming" is the starter straining to turn it over, which it can’t if the engine is seized up.

Seized engine due to owner neglecting it by not putting oil in. Not sure what people expect when they do not perform the basic tasks on a car.

it could be the starter. please fill it up with oil anyway. maybe it’s not the engine.

I have a 2000 Honda accord v6 my car overheats if I drive too fast or long and it leaks when I’m driving?

5 April, 2012 (05:30) | Education | By: admin

And it stops when I’m parked this is my first car and idk know what to do it appears that it’s leaking from the water pump

The water pump will produce drips near the driver’s feet. It’s about the only thing that will drip there. In any case, the key to getting a handle on the overheating is fixing the leak.

This is a really good time to check how long it has been since the timing belt has been changed. Replacement is due every 105K miles or 7 years, whichever comes first. If you don’t know when it was done you must do it Real Soon Now because if the timing belt fails it usually causes serious damage to the engine.

There is a reason I bring this up. The water pump is driven by the timing belt so the pump is normally changed when the timing belt is changed. Unless you have a solid record of when the timing belt was changed you are in line for replacing the belt and pump. If the pump is your problem now, life will be good indeed. The bad news is the total bill runs around $700 (water pump replacement plus the part cost of the timing belt in the estimator below). If it needs it there is really no choice, but it happens only once in about 7 years.

Sounds like it could be a water pump or radiator hose.

Do you have to keep topping up coolant in the radiator?

I would get this looked ASAP as a cooked engine is a very bad thing.

Repalce the Water Pump, and Thermostat, and Hoses…

Do this before you blow a Head Gasket… "Costly then"

Honda accord question?

the temp. guage goes instantly to hot right when i turn on the car….i pop open the hood but nothings overheating, can it be something with the guage or the car? its a 93 honda accord LX

If this happens as soon as you turn on the car its definitely the temp sensor. Have it replaced. They aren’t too expensive but not sure what labor would cost.

There is not much to it – the gauge has a power connection, a ground, and one wire to the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. The sensor is located on the end of the cylinder head, on the passenger side, forward of the other ECT sensor for engine management. It has the small connector with one red wire. If the connector is okay the sensor must be bad.

1991 Civic speedometer cable into a B18?

5 April, 2012 (05:00) | Education | By: admin

Do I use my stock cable? or an Acura Cable? If so, where do I put in my stock cable? The acura engine is a 1993 engine B18a1

speedo cable doesnt hook to the motor, so it doesnt matter what motor you have in it.

Will a 1991 Accord Alternator fit in a 1998 Accord?

5 April, 2012 (04:45) | Education | By: admin

I have a spare 1991 accord alternator and Im kind of low on funds and was wondering will it fix into my son’s 1998 accord?

Call your local parts store (O’Reilly’s) and ask them to look up the vehicle for alternator size. You must provide your vehicle year, make, model, VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), Engine size (found under the hood on the Catalyst Information sticker, ex. 3.7L)

Honda Civic 2007 radio code?

5 April, 2012 (04:30) | Education | By: admin

I disconnected my car battery too and now i need the code for the radio
my serial number is 30023664
and Vehicle Identification Number is JHMFD162X7S413604

Help please!!

Contact your dealer and give them that serial number. They can decipher it and give you the unlock code.

Now on my honda, and every honda i’ve seen with my own eyes, the radio code is under the fuse box lid. It’s the fuse box under the hood on the left side of the engine compartment. The radio code might also be on a sticker on the inside of the glovebox. If it isn’t there then you probably will need to go to the dealership. Good luck

look in your owners manual package, there will be a card with the code, and the programming instructions. Other than that, trip to a dealer, with your proof of car ownership.

re-enter that code when your radio prompt for it.

Is the 2006 honda civic a good car?

Buying a new car.
I really need some opinions.
My mom is a single mom
My dad was killed bye a drunk driver 3 months ago, we need any ADVICE, since my wonderful dad is now in heaven.
thank you.

My whole family is crazy about hondas. My mom has a 02 accord, dad a 05 civic, and aunt a 06 civic. Now in the brief trips that i have had with my aunt, i have noticed some problems with the civic.
1. Torque steer is insane if you really floor it
2. Tire roar is deafening
3. Interior feels plasticky

But on the plus side, its reliable as hell, good mpg’s, nice rev counter, and depending on what trim you get, might even eliminate some of the faults listed above. Overall, as a driver’s car, its complete ****. But as a pure mode of transportation, it’s pretty hard to beat.

Oh hey and alam, if you want a good car for drifting, you need RWD, not FWD. Learn something about cars before you go giving opinions to people who could actually take you seriously.

Through my experience working with vehicles, Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Nissans are all very dependable vehicles provided you keep up with maintenance. As for telling you whether or not the vehicle you are planning on buying is a good car or not, set up a pre-buy inspection at your local Honda dealership or Goodyear tire center. Depending on the place of business most offer safety inspections for free and do a full body inspection including in and around the car, under the hood and under the car. But be specific, let the representative know you want a pre-buy inspection. Good luck with your car buying experience.

Yes Honda Civic is best car for heavenly driving…..
i love this car…..
it has a good grip…
and its best for drifting etc…..
i set that car for me,,,,,,,,for drifting…..
hope that is helpful
it has air bage for accident
1:Airbags: Driver , Passenger , Side……
2:Torque steer is insane if you really floor it
3:Tire roar is deafening
4:Interior feels plasticky

Is this Chloe?
Yeah, get a civic,
BUT consider the Subaru.

yes

1998 Spoiler on a 2003 Civic?

5 April, 2012 (04:00) | Education | By: admin

I’m wondering if a 1998 Civic spoiler will fit my 2003 Civic?

It might fit size wise, but the screws don’t align up. Look for a 2001-2005 spoiler or else it’ll be harder to fit the 1998 model.
